The Application Process
Our application process is designed to match the rescue dog's needs
with the best adoptive home and environment. In order to do this,
it is necessary for both the applicants and the rescue organization
to complete the entire application process. The adoption fee is
between $180-330. and is used to provide medical care for our rescues.
We will only adopt to families living in the North and Northeast
Texas area, Dallas, FtWorth, Tyler, Longview and surrounding areas.
Children in the home must be at least 6 yrs old. We will not transport
out of state.
All of our fosters are healthy, current on vaccinations, tested
for heartworms and parasites and treated if needed, current on heartworm
prevention, spayed or neutered and microchipped.
The steps toward an adoption include:
1.) Submit an Application online Children in the home
must be at least 6 years of age and you must live in the North Texas
area.
2.) After submitting an application you must come out to
one of our scheduled Adopt-A-Pet locations to meet the dogs. See
the "Come
Meet Us" page for dates and locations.. We will not follow-up
on any applicants that have not been out to meet with us.
3.) After you have been out to a meet and greet, have your
vet fax us the records for any current pets in your home or any
pets within the last 2 years. All current pets must on heartworm
prevention and be spayed or neutered unless there is a valid
reason for not doing so. Our fax number is 866-546-5719
4.) While you are at the meet and greet, visit with an adoption
counselor and a home visit will be scheduled at that time by
one of our rescue coordinators if we have a possible adoption match
for you.
If you need to speak with us concerning your application after
you have been to a meet and greet please email us at application@stars-of-texas.org
or leave a message on our voicemail 866-546-5719 and we will get
back to you as soon as possible.
Almost always, we receive many applicants for the same dog. In this
case, we try to make the best possible match based on the information
we have gotten during the application process. Sometimes the dog
you're applying for might already have an adoption pending or may
actually "fit" better in a different applicant's home. In this case,
we will try to notify you as soon as possible and you may choose
to consider another available dog or continue with the process for
"pre-approval" on a future dog that becomes available.
Our organization is an all volunteer group, most of whom have full
time jobs. As such, we would appreciate your patience when going
through the adoption process. We try to complete the process as
quickly as possible and appreciate ALL applications and consider
each one a priority.
Thank you all for understanding our application process!
Please Note.....
If you experience difficulties sending the application please try
to come to one of our Meet and Greets
or print the adoption application, fill it out, and fax it to us
at 866-546-5719. .
