Emergency help needed for Shih Tzu seized in a cruelty case

Marshall Dillon, Miss Kitty and Jessie. 3 of the 9 Shih Tzu
needing your help
As you may have heard in the news, on Oct. 10th
the Humane Society of North Texas was awarded custody of 96 Shih
Tzu confiscated in a cruelty seizure in Ellis County. The HS was
able to adopt out close to 60 to local DFW residents and area
breed rescues were asked to take in 31 of the Shih Tzu that needed
more medical care or socialization help than the HS could provide.
The area breed specific rescue groups were able
to provide help for 21 of these unfortunate babies. Thankfully,
the national American Shih Tzu Club rescue stepped up to assume
care for the remaining 10 that the local groups could not absorb
into their already over taxed foster care system.
STARS of Texas has committed to providing
medical care, socialization, foster care, and placement in appropriate
homes for 9 of these very needy little ones. WE NEED YOUR HELP!
These little ones are currently in area veterinary
clinics getting the medical help they need and will be boarded
through a quarantine period. Our most immediate need is for foster
homes willing to work with these Shih Tzu on their housetraining
and socialization to get them ready for adoption into loving homes.
UPDATE: All have now completed their medical and are in foster
homes! Unfortunately, little Marshall Dillon may still require
surgery (estimate $800.) to help his eyes and foster homes are
still needed if we are to be able to help any Shih Tzu currently
in area shelters.
If you are unable to open your home in a foster
situation perhaps you could help by making a donation toward
their medical care and boarding costs? Most of these have
skin and eye issues requiring medical attention. We estimate the
medical and boarding costs for this group of dogs to be between
$600 - $800 per dog. UPDATE: As of 11-16 we have received
$1875. in donations towards the care of these dogs in our program.
STARS expenses to date for the Ellis County Shih Tzu total $5344.90.
A big THANK YOU to Patty Suplee for covering a large portion
of the expenses on 3 of the 9 furbabies and also to New Graphics,
Inc. for their $1000. donation!!
